2020-2021 College Catalog

History

International College of Health Sciences (the College) was founded in July 2011 to provide quality education in the field of healthcare. The College is committed to preparing students for employment in the healthcare professions. The primary focus of the College is to instill in our students our appreciation for the responsibilities that those professions have, both to patients and to the community in general.

As the founder of the College, Ms. Karyn Vidal has stayed in the forefront of this higher education institution. The College currently has programs designed to educate students in the medical and health fields; however, it is consistently evaluating its offerings in order to add cutting edge programs which complement the mission of the College. International College of Health Sciences, formerly known as the Institute of Healthcare Professions, began as an educational and training institute with short term diploma programs in allied health. In 2013, the school was granted approval to award a higher credential, expanding its educational offerings and awarding an Associate in Science Degree in Nursing and Associate in Science Degree in Diagnostic Sonography.

In December of 2014, International College of Health Sciences was granted initial accreditation from the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools through December 31, 2017 and renewed through December 31, 2022.

In January of 2014, with the approval from the Florida Department of Education’s Commission for Independent Education, and the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, International College of Health Sciences expanded its scope of career education to include a bachelor’s degree program, RN to BSN. This program was designed to offer our associate degree nursing graduates a more rounded educational opportunity within their field of study. Moreover, to fulfill the needs of an increasingly demanding workforce, the school offers most of its programs via distance education.

In 2016, with the approval from the Florida Department of Education’s Commission for Independent Education, International College of Health Sciences expanded its credential level offerings by adding a graduate level program, Family Nurse Practitioner. Akin to the RN to BSN program, the addition of the Family Nurse Practitioner program offers its nursing students additional opportunities within their field of study.

Additionally, International College of Health Sciences received a five-year grant of accreditation in both Cardiac and Vascular Sonography from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).

In November 2017, International College of Health Sciences was granted initial accreditation from the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) for a period of five (5) years.

In March 2018, International College of Health Sciences was granted approval from the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) to offer a master’s degree in Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN-FNP).

Academic program offerings are constantly being revised and updated to fulfill the requirements and demands of an ever-changing job-market, to provide its students with a unique education based on the foundation of strong academic principles, and to offer a modern perspective of the healthcare industry.
